What's Really Important

It's a First Time for Everything!

I have never been outside of the state Missouri. I have never travelled anywhere. When I tell people this, it shocks them. I always give the same response " I want to travel, but I truthfully have better things to do". My statement was the truth. I am busy handling the things that I already have on my plate. Using funds to travel was not a priority for me. As a part time server, I meet people from all over the world who I tell I should travel to simply explore different environments and cultures. I realize that I am also missing out on an educational opportunity and becoming more diverse by travelling,

So, it is official, I booked my fist trip! I have always wanted to go to New Orleans, Louisiana, and I am going. I will go in early June and stay for 3 days. I am excited to hear different accents, see different views, listen to different music, but most importantly I'm ready to taste different FOOD. As a bariatric patient, I know I will not get to consume a bunch of food but I'm ok with just tasting it. I'm so ready!!

I will be travelling with my friend Greg. Greg is a good friend of mines who also serves at the same restaurant. I am new to traveling and I don't know anything about ANYTHING! Having him there him help me be more prepared for what's to come and guide me through the process. I will research things to do and plan out some of my days with fun activities!

If there is something that you want to do, make time for it. Sometimes just the experience of things are well worth it.

I have a personal connection with mental illness awareness and suicide prevention. I know just how important it is to take care of your mental health. I have been in therapy since the age of 10. I've spent the majority of my life trying to maintain a sane mindset. Somedays are good and other days are not so good. But most importantly, I refuse to give up. I won't give up on me
